Batman v Superman Comic-Con 2015 Trailer Reaction!!!! (COMICS!)

11235812_401804750020111_8147197519332733017_n

Today has been the greatest day of my nerd life.

If you are a fan of comics, video games, movies, TV shows, anime, or anything similar…this is the weekend for you. This weekend was the famous San Diego Comic Con, and if you ask me it was the best. Since it started, There have been so many amazing announcements about so many amazing projects. One of my favorites being the official announcement of Ben Affleck directing his own solo Batman movie! Also there were a few comic projects that have me giggling with excitement. One of those being Max Landis finally returning to DC Comics to write a new Superman limited series! These were among the many things that got me going crazy! But there was one thing above all else that I was excited for.

That was the Warner Bros Panel that happened today at Hall H. Rumors had been floating for months that WB would be going nuts this year. Specifically with their DC Comics movies Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. We also heard that we might finally see the entire cast of the Justice League movie coming out. Sadly, we didn’t get The Justice League. But I’m very happy with what we did get. And I mean VERY HAPPY! One of those things was a first look at Suicide Squad. David Ayer, the writer and director, came up on stage and gave fans a trailer for the upcoming film. He also made a slight joke at the fact that so many aspects of his movie leaked online during filming. Well, looks like it happened again. Some ballsy fan decided to leak the trailer online. And no! I won’t leak it here. You’ll see it when it’s released officially! Also I can’t find a good link, but still!

Anyway, the trailer was amazing! The characters look pitch perfect to me. Whom ever decided to cast Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is the smartest person alive! The nerd side of me thinks she nails the role perfectly. The guy side of me….Lets just say I have an eternal crush. The other stand out in this trailer was Jared Leto as The Joker. I know people have been bugging about this Joker’s look. Honestly, I think he looks awesome. Sure the forehead Tat is weird, but still. Not a deal breaker. Especially now cause his performance in the trailer alone is perfect! His Joker voice gave me the chills, as well as his laugh! Joker is tied with Batman as my favorite character, and I’m so happy so far with these two new takes.

Speaking of which, The other trailer they played was for Batman v Superman. The previous trailer I thought was pretty awesome, but this new one….OH. MY. GOD! This trailer made my entire day! First off, this trailer was epic. Every aspect of it was grand and exciting! Everything! The dialog, the action, the background score, the costumes! OH! MY! GOD! I hate to say this stupid phrase, but I just can’t even! I really can’t! Second, I loved seeing the new characters in this trailer. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman looks incredible! Bad ass and Beautiful. Her role is still a mystery, but I’m alright with that.

Affleck really looks like the perfect Batman and Bruce Wayne. We get more of the latter in this trailer, but we also get some awesome action scenes with The Dark Knight. The real stand out was Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor for me. A lot of fans were skeptical about this casting choice, but I’m already sold. Eisenberg’s performance in this trailer alone is better than most of the comic book villains we’ve had from other movies. He has the Lex attitude, but brings his own flair to the table. And I love the stupid wig he has on. Classic. Anyway, you probably are getting tired of me rambling on about this trailer. You’d probably like to watch it yourself. GUESS WHAT?!?! If you click on that awesome new Comic Con poster for BvS, it will take you to the new trailer!! So? What are you waiting for? GO WATCH IT!

The Suicide Squad Revealed!!! (COMICS!)

tumblr_nnsr5np2S31tguoxuo1_r1_1280

You have NO IDEA how excited I am!

In case you aren’t aware, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice isn’t the only big DC Comics movie coming out next year. That other film coming out in 2016 is called Suicide Squad. Now, for those whom still don’t know, here is a quick run down. Suicide Squad is a team of super villains forced by the government to carry out life threatening tasks. If they don’t play ball, they will be killed. Usually by a bomb implant in their necks. If you want a better understanding, I’d recommend the awesome Batman: Assault on Arkham movie. Or The Suicide Squad episodes of Arrow. I’d recommend the former more than the latter, but both are solid! I’ve always loved the team, and the stories are usually a lot of fun and crazy. To have a film being made about them, written and directed by David Ayer, is exciting. Now! One thing I enjoy about Ayer is he loves to share with his fans! He keeps us updated on what is currently going on during his film productions. So, we’ve been seeing step by step of Ayer’s approach to Suicide Squad. The more I saw, the more excited I became.

Now, we are finally at the filming stage! Which means Ayer has begun to share what each character will look like in the film! So, long story short….I give you The Suicide Squad! I am over the moon, people! These character’s look amazing, and I couldn’t be happier about whom they got to play each one! Going from left to right we have Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn (my favorite!), Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. Yea. This is awesome. Now I just can’t wait for the first trailer to hit the net! Now, before I go, there is one more thing I should discuss. I didn’t get the chance to speak of it during it’s actual release. At the time I was at C2E2 in Chicago, but I have time to do it now.

There is a big cast member/character missing from this Image. Mainly because he isn’t a member of the Suicide Squad, but also because we already saw him last weekend. I’m obviously speaking of Jared Leto as The Joker. The image has seemed to divide the fans up. Some really enjoy it. Others see it as Leto joining the ICP crowd. For me, I gotta say I’m a fan. The Joker has had some radical looks in his life. Once he got shot in the head and didn’t die. So he was stuck with a nasty scar in the middle of his forehead. More recently, He had to wear his own face. Yea. Joker used wires and belts to strap his own face to his head. So, if I can get used to those looks, Tattoos and capped teeth won’t bug me. Even if the rumors are true, and this isn’t the actual Joker look. Either way, I really like this look, and I can’t wait to see Leto’s performance! I will say this, though. I am iffy on the “Damaged” tattoo on his head. Seems kind of ironic. Maybe that’s the point. Who knows. Anyway, let us know what you think of these reveals in the comments!

Marvel’s Daredevil: Season One Review!

Daredevil-televison

The man without fear is here!

If you know me, you know I’ve kind of lost some interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After films like Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 3, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show on ABC I just haven’t been getting into it. Thankfully, my interest and excitement over these films has steadily been coming back. I mean, with movies as good as The Winter Soldier and Guardians of The Galaxy, It’s hard not to start getting excited again. But they weren’t enough, ultimately. I still found myself not showing the same enthusiasm for upcoming Marvel movies as I used to. Age of Ultron looks cool, and I’m excited to see it, but I’m not crazy for it. And only with the recent trailer have I had any interest in the Ant-Man movie. All that being said, there was always one thing set in the MCU that grabbed my attention. The more I heard about it, the more excited I got. Now that thing has finally arrived for you and I to enjoy! That thing…..Is Marvels first Netflix original show…..Daredevil! That’s right! Season One of Daredevil is up on Netflix now! I’ve seen the entire season! And guess what?! I MADE A REVIEW FOR IT! So, if you want to check it out, click on that amazing photo up to! It will take you there! Also, if you like what you see, hit the subscribe button on YouTube! I’ll be making more videos, and you wouldn’t wanna miss out!

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor!!! (COMICS!)

SEE! I told you it was gonna be awesome!

So, we have slowly been getting first looks at all the various characters that will be appearing in the DC Cinematic Universe. Mainly just the cast of Batman V. Superman. First we had a look at Batman. Followed by Superman and Wonder Woman at Comic Con. And most recently we saw the awesome Jason Momoa as Aquaman! However the one character we’ve all been curious about mostly, and you know it’s true don’t deny it, is Lex Luthor. Now, after a really LONG wait, we’ve finally got our first look! Zack Snyder, director of Man of Steel and Batman V. Superman, had an interview of Entertainment weekly. And along with the interview, we got our first look at Lex! I’ve always been a supporter of the Eisenberg casting since I heard it. It’s not the first choice, but it’s an excellent choice anyway. And now seeing him as Lex makes me even more ecstatic! Eisenberg looks incredible! Very sinister and maniacal. Now all I wanna see is that trailer! GET THE HECK ON IT WARNER BROS! Anyway, what do you all think of this? Let me know in the comments!

Jason Momoa as Aquaman…REVEALED!!!

Now that is what I’m talking about!

Contrary to popular opinion, Aquaman is one of the best characters in comics! I mean, the guy is king of 70% of the earth. 70%! That’s just one fraction of the many many qualities that make Aquaman awesome! And now I’m excited to say we will finally be getting to see him, and all his glory, on the big screen! Not only that, but he looks just badass! Jason Momoa is a perfect choice, and I love the look they went for. Very cool take on the more 90’s Aquaman feel. Anyway, I’ll just let you marvel (Wrong company! I know!) at the brilliance that is the first look of Jason Momoa as Aquaman! Great Job, Zack Snyder! You’re really getting me excited for the future of DC on film! #UniteTheSeven

Fantastic 4 Trailer Review (COMICS!)

10922667_841218145935517_9056852729112896797_n

Before I even start this review, I should probably let you in on something. Something to help you, the reader, understand where my point of view is coming from. I have never cared for, nor have I ever liked, the Fantastic 4. I’ve read a few of the comics, both Ultimate and Regular universe, and non of them ever really caught my attention. I mean, yea they got some cool abilities. But so do so many other superheroes that I like 10 times more. Honestly, the only other character I like less than the Fantastic 4 is Spider-Man. Yea. I said it, and I’ll say it again. I DON’T LIKE SPIDER-MAN! I’m getting off topic. Nothing new, right?

Anyway, while I may not like F4, It’s become quite obvious lately that many many MANY people do. How do I know this? Because of all the constant hate this new Fantastic 4 reboot has been getting. I mean, fans must really care about F4 to give Fox this much crap about a movie that’s not even out yet, right? ALL ABOARD THE HATE-TRAIN! CHOO CHOO! Next stop…wait! THERE ARE NO STOPS ON THE HATE-TRAIN! CHOO CHOO! I’m….so sorry about that. I have no idea where that came from.

In all seriousness, I don’t really get why there is so much hate for this movie. Or any other movie based on a comic. It’s just getting annoying, you know? I get it. You’re upset, but will this really ruin your life? No. No it won’t. You’re life will be just fine. Why? Well, I shouldn’t have to explain why. I’m getting off topic again. DAMN YOU ADHD! SO! What did I think of this new trailer? It’s alright. To be honest, It’s not exactly the most amazing teaser I’ve ever seen. Actually, it’s kind of generic. It pretty much used the typical CBM teaser formula that you’ve seen many others use. That being said, I still found myself interested in what I saw. Not really loving what I saw, but interested. Curious.

First off, it seems like the film is going for a more sci-fi vibe. And not just any sci-fi vibe, It looks like they are trying to mimic Nolan, Kubrick, and Cronenberg. Not even kidding! You watch the trailer, and You’ll think they jacked actual shots from films directed by all three of those guys. I was waiting for the Monolith to start floating around behind Mr. Fantastic. It actually kind of took me out of the trailer a bit. It’s nice to try and mimic the vibe of someone else’s work, but don’t rip them off! Not that they are blatantly ripping off anyone, it just feels like it. That’s just going too far.

I do, however, like that the trailer does evoke a heavy sci-fi vibe. Something that could really work for Fantastic 4. If done well, of course. One thing I wish they showed more of is the team themselves. You see them pre-powers, but not much as the team itself. Because of the this, the trailer seemed like some random science fiction movie. You wouldn’t have known it was Fantastic 4 until they showed the title. Again, I like that they are making it more of a science fiction movie, but you can’t forget that it’s also a superhero movie. Over all, I’m not really super excited to see Fantastic 4. I am curious about it, though. I really do hope this does well. Just so I can watch all the angry fans start to praise it. As if that’s how they felt the entire time. Anyway, what did YOU think of the Fantastic 4 trailer? Let us know in the comment section below! Also, if you haven’t see the trailer yet, click on the picture above! And, as always, have a nice day!

Horns Movie Review!

horns_ver3_xlg

It’s been over three years since the last Harry Potter film hit theaters. Three years since we last saw our beloved Hogwarts heroes say their farewells. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson have long moved on from those roles, and yet it still seems hard for movie goers to see them as anyone else. I even included myself into that group. At least I did include myself in that group. Now, I’m starting to see them for the actors and not their characters. Well, Not all of them. While it was much easier to see Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as them and not Ron and Hermione, It wasn’t as easy with Daniel Radcliffe.

After watching his films The Woman in Black and Kill Your Darlings it started to fade, but I still saw him as Harry Potter. Even with his show A Young Doctor’s Notebook with Jon Hamm I couldn’t shake Potter away from Radcliffe. I mean, He is the main character. He is Harry Potter. He would be the hardest of the three to see as anyone else. However, after watching Radcliffe’s latest film, Horns, I’ll never see him the same again. And I mean that in a good way. Horns is a dark fantasy film from director Alexandre Aja, and is based on the novel of the same name by author Joe Hill. The story follows Ig Perish, played by Radcliffe, a young man whom everyone in his hometown believes is a murderer.

One year ago, Ig’s long time girlfriend Merrin was found dead in the forest. Word spread, along with a few lies, and the town quickly believed Ig was the man who did it. One morning, after a drunken tirade the previous night, Ig woke up with an unusual new…addition. He found two horns growing out of his forehead. Not only that, but people began acting differently around him. Spilling deep secrets and showing their darkest and most twisted sides of themselves. At first, Ig is freaked out and completely upset by this curse he now possesses. Eventually, he sees this curse as a blessing in disguise, and uses it as a way to find out who really killed the love of his life.

Now, I’m a big Joe Hill fan. I haven’t read much of his novel work, but I love his comics. Specifically Locke and Key, which is such a great series! So, when I heard his book Horns was getting adapted, I was ecstatic! I love the story so much. It’s kind of like Paradise Lost with a modern twist and vibe. To see that story play out on film, with Daniel Radcliffe as Ig, left me truly excited. I was even more ecstatic when I saw the film was for sale digitally on the Playstation store! Long before it’s intended theatrical release date! I mean, who wouldn’t be excited to see a movie way before it’s supposed to come out?

I bought the HD copy, watched it a few times, and I’m happy to say I really ended up enjoying this film. First and foremost, Daniel Radcliffe is pitch perfect. No joke, this is the best performance I’ve ever seen from him! And it’s a very different performance than anything he’s done before. He’s dark, he’s grungy, he’s hysterical, he’s raw, and I love every second of it! I could honestly say if anyone else was in the role, I probably wouldn’t have liked the film as much as I did. Radcliffe made this movie, and it shows. The other performances are pretty good, and the chemistry between everyone works great. Especially between Radcliffe and Juno Temple whom played Merrin. I’ve enjoyed her in pretty much every movie I’ve seen her in, and this is just another example of her great skills.

I honestly can’t really think of anyone that I didn’t like. I mean I think Heather Graham, in the 5 minutes shes in the movie, kind of hams it up, but It works with what’s happening to her character. Visually, the film is beautiful. Aja really plays up the fantasy style for the look of the film. Especially during the scenes in the forest. You feel like you’ve entered a different world, just as the characters did. Great approach, for sure. One thing I found iffy and a bit jarring was the tone. It’s kind of all over the place. One minute the film is a truly hysterical black comedy, and the next it’s an emotional drama. Some points, the humor and the drama really work, but there were times it just wasn’t right. Like it felt off to do something funny at this moment or sad at this moment, you know? That happened a few times.

It really is hard to tell what tone the film wanted, but that really didn’t keep me from enjoying the story and the characters. So I can easily forgive the films tonal confusion. That being said, the one thing I can’t forgive is the predictable outcome. From the beginning, I knew who the real killer was. Seeing as how the story was sort of a whodunit deal, That’s the last thing you want to be predictable. I mean, I still liked how the film wrapped, but I wish they left in more mystery as to who really did it, you know? Ultimately, Horns is a very different film, but a film I really enjoyed. And its a movie I’d recommend to anyone. Especially so people can see how awesome Daniel Radcliffe is in it. Horns is released in theaters this Halloween, and is available now on all digital outlets!

I give Horns a 4/5

Marvel Announces Phase 3 of the MCU! (COMICS!)

Phase 3

I know I’m a little late on posting about this, but at least I’m doing it now! Better late than never, right? At least, I think so. Anyway, Marvel has just made a HUGE announcement! Seeing as how phase two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU for short, is just about wrapped up, Marvel felt it was time to reveal their plans for phase three. An entire line-up of movies were announced at a big event, and they even showed off a few clips from their next blockbuster event Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now, this is exciting to hear. However, I’m just not as excited as I probably should be. It’s kind of strange, but I’m just not leaping off my couch right away. I mean, there are a few titles I’m over the moon about. One of those being Captain Marvel. I really love Carol Danvers, as well as her most recent comic book adventures, so It’s exciting to see her getting a film soon. All Marvel has to do now is cast the right actress AKA Katee Sackhoff. Honestly, there really isn’t another perfect choice than Sackhoff. Lets get real, people!

Other than that, I’m just not pumped up about this. I mean, I feel like it’s a bit of overkill. I think I have Marvel fatigue, man! It’s just Marvel Marvel Marvel all the time, and It’s becoming over whelming. Also, we just got a trailer for Age of Ultron! Why are we getting a teaser trailer for Avengers 3? Can’t we just focus on that as apposed to what’s coming in four years? You know, I might not even see those movies in 2018 because the fatigue will have grown and festered inside me. Okay that sounded kind of gross. I’m very sorry about that. Obviously, I’m going to be in the minority on this. Especially with the loads of fans excited to see these movies, but It just seems like a bit much. Again, this is probably just me.

Truthfully, It is exciting as hell to see that there will be movies based on characters we’ve never seen on the big screen before. Same goes to DC and Warner Bros. They announced an entire line-up a while ago, and that was very exciting. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, The Flash, Shazam, and more are finally coming to the theater! At the end of the day, I’ll probably see these new Marvel films. Hopefully I’ll like them, and leave the theater a happy nerd. That’s what I hope for, ultimately. However, it probably won’t change the way I feel. Anyway, let us know what your most excited about with these phase three films! Also, as a special treat, if you click on the image you’ll be taken to a clip/trailer combo for Avengers: Age of Ultron! Trust me when I say this, It’s a pretty rad video!

Gotham Series Premiere Review! (COMICS!)

gotham.0_cinema_1200.0

If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with Batman. I don’t really remember when it started. I just know I am. It feels like it’s been this way since I was born. When I was younger, It was all about the movies and the cartoons. The comics didn’t really come into the picture until I was a teenager. Once that happened, my obsession grew to unimaginable heights. When I was a kid, the obsession was Batman centric. When I got older, and read the comics, it was everything. Batman AND his world became incredibly fascinating to me. I began to fall in love with characters like Commissioner Gordon, Dick Grayson, Selina Kyle, Alfred Pennyworth, The Joker, The Penguin, The Riddler, and the rest of these colorful and dark people.

However, what I really grew to love was Gotham City itself. Such a dilapidated, scum filled, mysterious, rotten to the core city. A place, a hell on earth, that truly needed someone like Batman to save it. So, when DC Comics announced they were making a television show about how Gotham became the city we know, I was ecstatic. A show that explores the beginnings of one of the best fictional places ever? Who wouldn’t be excited?! Finally, after a long wait, Gotham has premiere on FOX. So, this first episode starts right at the beginning. A young boy and his parents walking down a dark alleyway after a great time at the movies. Suddenly ambushed by a mugger, a man of the night, eager to snag their valuables. To end this encounter, the mugger shoots and kills the young boys beloved parents. This boy, as you should know, is Bruce Wayne.

Moments later, Detectives James Gordon, our main character, and his partner Harvey Bullock arrive on the scene. While Bullock ponders ways to avoid being involved with this case, Gordon makes a promise to the young Wayne. He will find and capture the man who killed Bruce Wayne’s parents. Afterwards, we travel to some of the blackest pits of Gotham as Jim and Harvey try to solve the Wayne murder case. This is episode one in a nutshell. Once the credits played, I was sporting a big grin on my nerdy face. This was really a wonderful pilot. There were a few points where I felt the show needed work, but I was satisfied non the less.

First of all, I gotta say how much I love the look of this show. Honestly, I haven’t loved the look of Gotham City this much since the Tim Burton Batman film from ’89. Not that I didn’t like, say, the Nolan Gotham City, but I’ve always been a fan of the more art deco/gothic style. I would say this Gotham is a perfect marriage of Burton and Nolan’s Gotham Cities. A bit more Burton than Nolan, but it’s a nice mixture. I also loved just how dark and brutal the city was. A first episode is mainly about showcasing what to expect tonally and stylistically from the rest of the series. I feel this pilot did that incredibly well. A true portrayal of how Gotham should be. Nothing like how R Kelly described it! Yea! I’m calling you out, man! I hope you’re still trapped in that closet, you jerk!

Anyway…Gotham also showcased some stellar performances. I really loved Donal Logue and Jada Pinkett Smith the most. Logue is the perfect Bullock. His look, charm, and attitude works so well for Bullock. Pinkett Smith plays a brand new character named Fish Mooney, a character I quickly loved. I can’t really think of many female crime bosses, so it’s nice to see one for a change. A really awesome one. I can’t wait to see more of her. As far as the rest of the cast, everyone was pretty solid. Ben McKenzie was quite good as a young Gordon. Not as humble as I’d like him to be, but still a man with a heart of gold. Fun fact! This isn’t McKenzie’s first time in Gotham. He actually voiced Batman in the animated Batman: Year One. While he was decent as a Young Bruce Wayne, I like him more as a young Gordon.

Speaking of Young Bruce Wayne, David Mazouz was spectacular as Bruce Wayne. He did a great job capturing the fear and intensity of Bruce. The most emotional bits in the pilot where because of Mazouz’s wonderful portrayal. Now, while I really enjoyed this episode, it wasn’t without flaws. For example, the episode was a bit predictable. Mainly because we’ve seen Batman’s origin story a lot. I mean, everyone knows how Batman became Batman. We’ve seen it and read it a million times. So, it was hard to really be surprised. Thankfully, the pilot took a few nice turns to make things less familiar. Along with predictability, This first episode was a bit cheesy. I don’t mind cheese, but it was a tad much at times.

Also, I wish we got more of Selina Kyle. She doesn’t really do much expect sneak around in the background. However, episode two is called “Selina Kyle” so I suspect she will be getting a bit more screen time soon. One little nitpick I have is the character Ivy Pepper. Ivy Pepper is supposed to be a young Poison Ivy. Now, this might be too early to say since I don’t know their plans, but that is not Posion Ivy! Why couldn’t she be named Pamela Isley? I hope this is just temporary, and the character gets a name change or something down the road. Ultimately, though, I really dug this episode. I remember hearing some Batfans complaining this show would suck simply because Batman isn’t in it. Well, can a Batman related show work without having Batman in it? Yes. I think it can.

I’ll give Gotham “Pilot” Episode an 8.5 out of 10.
